If you are thinking about building a new deck or just adding a new deck top this year, we've got some great tips on our blog to help you with installation. Link is in the bio
Grown only in the Pacific Northwest, Western Red Cedar is a top choice for exterior wall cladding, roofing and interior accents. Prized for its fine even grain, natural properties against rot and decay and low maintenance needs, Western Red Cedar Shingles and Shakes are a very popular choice for exterior siding and roofing around the world.
To save money and time on the job site, we had this clear, mixed grain Western Red Cedar sent out for pre-stain. With nearly every color imaginable, from clear products that allow the natural characteristics and colors of the wood show through, to semi-transparent stains that add a subtle hue, to solid color coatings; the quality of the finish is impossible to duplicate using on-site installation methods. Your material will be completely covered on all sides with a flood coat of stain, in a temperature controlled environment, free of dust and debris, then back brushed to ensure even absorption and coverage. Western Red Cedar is light weight, easy to work with and has minimum tendency to shrink, twist, cup or check. It seasons easily and quickly and when properly finished and maintained, Western Red Cedar will supply you its splendor and beauty for many decades. For product info and how to buy, see the link in our bio
These stunning condos built by RGN Construction of Seattle, WA are beautiful example of today's modern architecture. By adding some touches of natural wood, the cool mix of metal, glass and masonry are warmed up to provide an inviting facade. For more info, see the link in our bio
Hand split from blocks of recovered Western Red Cedar from down sources on Mount Rainier, each piece of our Grape Stake fencing is uniquely beautiful and averages between 1-1/2″ to 3-1/2″ wide and 6′ in length. However, since our Cedar Grape Stakes are split per order, we can produce custom lengths and, in some cases, widths.
While Ipe is the most well known of the hardwood decking products on the market, it is also one of the most expensive. Uniquely beautiful and a proven performer for decades, our Red Batu “Mahogany” is priced approximately 30-50% less than Ipe. Our Kayu Red Batu is only 100% clear grade, 100% kiln dried and is double inspected by KAYU exclusive graders to ensure it is remains highly consistent. And because it is always sourced from the same region, our Kayu Red Batu has a Class “A” Flame Spread Rating, which is the same as concrete and steel.
With so many decking options to choose from on the market today, finding a budget that works for you and a general idea of the deck material you desire is a great place to start narrowing down what product is right for your new deck top.
Throughout the wood industry, specific standards have been set so that there is consistency in grading when Western Red Cedar is manufactured; as well as bought and sold. For the general consumer, this can be somewhat confusing. Generally speaking, the higher the grade, the higher the price. So, when selecting and pricing specialty building materials, it is important to know the grade of material being purchased and how it is best used.
